Cringletie House

Cringletie House is a large, luxurious and very romantic country house hotel and restaurant just south of Edinburgh, Scotland. The castle type Victorian baronial mansion is set in the tranquil and rural countryside and dates back to 1861 with a Walled Garden outside dating back to 1661 when the first Cringletie House was built. Cringletie House grounds feature a real waterfall, a historic and listed dovecote, a crocket lawn and even a pitch and putt. The 16th century walled garden is amongst the oldest in Scotland and contains a Victorian glasshouse. Many original features have survived time at Cringletie House, for instance the original butler panel has been restored to full function. Whenever you call from anywhere in the House, the butler panel will register your call and transfer it to the telephone set of the duty manager. You called mylord? The guest bedrooms are all very different with each having its own unique character and dimensions including turret rooms and four posters as well as the other usual standards. Each room comes with a large, comfortable bed, a great view of the grounds, en-suite bathroom, robe, slippers, trouserpress, telephone, flat screen TV, high speed internet access, fresh fruit and mineral water with coffee and tea freely available throughout the day. Non-allergenic duvets and pillows can be arranged on request. Cringletie House is completely accessible by wheelchair users and lift keys etc are available to ensure independence is retained by the guest. Traqair beds are in place in the luxurious disabled-friendly rooms – which are designed for those with mobility difficulties. Cringletie restaurant head chef Paul Hart was awarded 2006 Hotel Chef of the Year by the Scottish Chefs Association. Dishes range from the traditional, locally farmed, Scottish cuisine, to the French gourmet style and the family favourite – the Sunday roast. The chef offers meals for guests with allergies and dishes range from simple single-course meals, to three-course or seven-course gourmet meals! Dinner can be served in a range of rooms to accommodate for a choice of atmosphere. The chef’s vegetables are grown in the house grounds within the Walled Garden. The restaurant and bar will satisfy any palette, with wines, champagne, whiskies and cocktails the range has something for everyone. Hampers can be made up for guests wishing to eat out and about (with no drop in quality) and as always – a range is offered. The public rooms in Cringletie House are welcoming with log fires in each of them. There is a cosy lounge bar with a bay window looking over the grounds and library with leather clad couches and chairs with internet access. There is a conservatory that sits on the edge of the grounds, perfect for savouring any moment of sun that blesses Scotland- and luckily you’re undercover in case it doesn’t last. Corporate and social functions are perfectly set in this grandeur property and its surroundings. Many of the rooms in the hotel are available for business use besides those already set up for the purpose. Tailored conferencing solutions are a speciality. The largest of the meeting rooms will accommodate 60 guests in a single room. If there were a need for total exclusivity and seclusion, then it is possible to book the whole House. State of the art audio/visual equipment is available including high speed internet access, three meter wall display, networked writing boards, ISDN video conferencing and audio conferencing with dedicated dial in and out functions.
